Right now, nearly 800,000 Houstonians in Texas’s 18th Congressional District are being denied their voice in Washington. At a moment when working families in Houston are struggling with skyrocketing rent, rising costs for groceries and gas, threats to our voting rights, and attacks on our fundamental freedoms, your decision to delay calling a special election is unacceptable.
 

We see clearly what you’re doing. Instead of doing your job and calling a special election, you’re deliberately delaying — trying to protect your party’s razor-thin majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
 

Our community deserves a representative who will stand up for affordable healthcare, fair wages, quality education, safe housing, and environmental justice. We need leaders who will fight for working families — not politicians and billionaires holding our democracy hostage.
